I am happy to share some insights on NOVAtime Technology drawn from our latest Value Index research, which provides an analytic representation of our assessment of how well vendors’ offerings meet buyers’ requirements. The Ventana Research Value Index: Workforce Management 2019 is the distillation of a year of market and product research efforts by Ventana Research. We utilized a structured research methodology that includes evaluation categories designed to reflect the breadth of the real-world criteria incorporated in a request for proposal (RFP) and vendor selection process for workforce management. We evaluated NOVAtime and 12 other vendors in seven categories, five relevant to the product (adaptability, capability, manageability, reliability and usability) and two related to the vendor (TCO/ROI and vendor validation). To arrive at the Value Index rating for a given vendor, we weighted each category to reflect its relative importance in an RFP process, with the weightings based on our experience and data derived from our benchmark research on workforce management.

NOVAtime placed 13th in this Value Index evaluation. It placed fifth with an above-average score in the Capability category and was in the top five as well in the Validation category based on strong customer references and good case study materials.

NOVAtime’s WFM product is cloud-based, multi-tenant and native to mobile devices. The company’s new Concierge-Enhanced Scheduling module supports employee shift giveaway and allows employees to claim available shifts based on various criteria. The algorithms powering the CES determine the optimum employee schedule by considering such factors as overtime management and minimization, total work hours leveling, seniority policy enforcement and scheduling restrictions. Its standard scheduling module provides the capability to tie employee attributes to schedules, with the ability to use up to 20 configurable group levels as specific data fields.

NOVAtime lags behind the Value Index leaders in product innovation areas such as Usability, Manageability, Reliability and TCO/ROI, in all of which it needs improvement and further investment. It should address Adaptability and the needed integration along with more depth on its tools and services for TCO/ROI. It needs to address gaps in its technology trend support for collaboration, mobile, chatbot and AI/ML.
