Workday is a Leader in Usability for Learning Management Systems

We evaluated Workday and 11 other vendors in seven categories, five product-related (adaptability, capability, manageability, reliability and usability) and two concerning the vendor (TCO/ROI and vendor validation). To arrive at the Value Index rating for a given vendor, we weighted each of the seven categories to reflect its relative importance in an RFP process, with the weightings based on data derived from our benchmark research on LMS.

Workday scores ninth in this Value Index on LMS and earns Value Index Leader (top three) status in the Usability, Manageability and Adaptability categories. The vendor launched this product only about three years ago, making it the youngest offering we evaluated.

The company’s HCM offering includes advanced platform attributes, which contributes to its top ranking in the Manageability category. TheVentana_Research_Value_Index_LMS_2020_Workday_200501 product meets the needs of both business and IT with respect to installation, deployment and administration. The offering also provides sophisticated security provisions built into the application and includes strong support for meeting auditing and compliance requirements.

The vendor’s lowest scores are in the Capability category, which we largely attribute to the youth of the product. Performance here would improve with stronger content searching and curation, and eCommerce capabilities. The product currently provides minimal collaboration opportunities in the course of learning and has limited testing and quiz functionality.
